Stocks rose to fresh all-time highs on Friday. Last week, the S&P 500 closed above 7,200 for the first time, boosted by strong quarterly corporate earnings numbers. In April, the Nasdaq had its best month since 2020 and the Dow Jones had its best month since 2024. Investors remain hopeful for an end to the US/Iran war.
Economic reports from last week came back mixed:
•Consumer Confidence - higher than expectation
•New Residential Construction - higher than expectation
•Gross Domestic Product - lower than expectation
•Personal Income - higher than expectation
•Jobless Claims - lower than expectation
This week, investors will look for guidance from economic reports like Job Openings, Housing, Employment, Labor Productivity, Construction Spending, Consumer Credit, Consumer Sentiment and Jobless Claims.
