The Strength of the Market is: Strong

The S&P 500 reached new highs on Friday and posted weekly gains during the holiday-shortened week. Last week, the S&P 500 gained 1.4%, notching its fourth weekly advance in five weeks, and both the Dow Jones and Nasdaq were up more than 1%. Investors are getting more confident heading into 2026.

 

Economic reports from last week came back mixed:

•Gross Domestic Product - higher than expectation

•Consumer Confidence - lower than expectation

•Jobless Claims - lower than expectation

 

This week, investors will look for guidance from economic reports like Manufacturing, Housing, Construction Spending and Jobless Claims.
